The audio setup page detects what the browser can expose and provides Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS guidance. Device naming and routing remain controlled by the operating system and browser.

Microphones, outputs and audio devices

Detect what your browser can actually see, then open only the guide for your operating system.

The browser only shows devices and routes the operating system exposes. On mobile, speakerphone, earpiece, wired and Bluetooth routes are not guaranteed as separate inputs: CamMicGo shows every audio input actually provided by the browser.

Microphone
Allow microphone access to reveal device names.
Audio output
No distinct output exposed.

Guides by operating system

Windows
  1. 1. Settings โ†’ System โ†’ Sound โ†’ Input to choose the main microphone.
  2. 2. For Default / Communications roles: More sound settings โ†’ Recording โ†’ right-click the microphone โ†’ Set as Default Device or Default Communication Device.
  3. 3. Settings โ†’ Privacy & security โ†’ Microphone to allow your browser.
macOS
  1. 1. System Settings โ†’ Sound โ†’ Input to choose the microphone.
  2. 2. macOS does not use Windows-style separate Default / Communications roles; individual apps may still choose their own microphone.
  3. 3. System Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Microphone to allow your browser.
Linux
  1. 1. Open Settings โ†’ Sound, or pavucontrol with PulseAudio/PipeWire.
  2. 2. Choose the default input and check the Recording tab if an app uses the wrong microphone.
  3. 3. Names exposed to CamMicGo depend on the browser and the system audio layer.
Android
  1. 1. Android Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ your browser โ†’ Permissions โ†’ Microphone โ†’ Allow.
  2. 2. Connect the wired/USB-C headset or Bluetooth device before running CamMicGo detection.
  3. 3. Android may switch routes automatically without exposing every route as a separate audio input to the browser.
iOS
  1. 1. Settings โ†’ your browser (Safari, Chromeโ€ฆ) โ†’ Microphone โ†’ Allow.
  2. 2. Connect the headset or Bluetooth device before running detection again.
  3. 3. iOS strongly limits explicit audio-route enumeration and selection in web pages.
Default vs Communications

On Windows, the same physical hardware can appear more than once because the system assigns general and communications roles. They are not necessarily two different physical microphones.

Why is my headset missing?

The list depends on permission and what the browser exposes. Grant microphone access first, connect the headset, then run Detect again. On mobile, some routes remain managed only by the operating system.
