Test Webcam Online

Find out if your camera works — and how you actually look on calls. Check FPS, sharpness, lighting and noise right in the browser.

CamMicGo at a glance

  • More than 15 free device tests in 11 languages, with no account and no installation.
  • Common video modes: 640×480, 1280×720 (720p) and 1920×1080 (1080p). The test shows the mode actually delivered, not only the one requested.
  • Video calls need a stable 30 fps; 60 fps looks smoother for streaming and gaming.
  • Microphone level is shown in dBFS: for clear speech, aim for peaks around −12 to −6 dBFS.
  • 0 bytes of video or audio are uploaded: the analysis runs on your device.

How to get a better webcam result before a call

A webcam can technically work and still look poor in a meeting. Use the live lighting, noise, sharpness and real FPS readings together: improve the room light first, check that the lens is clean and in focus, then use filters only for small visual adjustments. The comparison view is useful for checking natural versus mirrored framing or two camera setups without changing the rest of your workflow.

Troubleshooting camera and microphone permissions

Chrome

Allow Camera and Microphone in the site controls near the address bar, reload after changing permissions, and close apps such as Zoom, Teams or OBS if they are already using the device.

Safari

Open Settings for This Website, allow Camera and Microphone, and verify macOS or iOS privacy permissions if access remains blocked.

Webcam test FAQ

How can I test my webcam online without installing software?

Allow access when prompted. CamMicGo displays the live feed locally on your device and measures resolution, real FPS, lighting, image noise and sharpness without requiring a desktop app.

Why does my webcam look grainy even when it works?

Visible grain is usually caused by low light. The camera raises gain to brighten the image, which also amplifies noise. Add soft light in front of you before increasing brightness with a filter.

Why is my webcam FPS lower than 30?

Low light, thermal limits, system load, device drivers and the selected resolution can all reduce the frames actually delivered. The Real FPS card measures what actually reaches the page rather than only the requested value.

Should I use natural view or mirror view for video calls?

Mirror view feels familiar because it behaves like a mirror, but natural view is closer to what other participants receive. Compare both if you want to check text, logos, gestures or framing before joining a call.
